Santa Barbara Restaurant Week with BAE, Posh 4 Pennies Style!

Feb. 21-Mar. 6, 2020

What?!?!?!  You haven’t!?!?!  What are you waiting for!?!?

I have been looking forward to this year’s restaurant week since last year’s ended!

My First Time

Unfortunately, I missed the first year a of Santa Barbara Restaurant Week (SBRW), but I was able to make it to the 2nd Annual SBRW and enjoy a number of meal deals at restaurants in town that I have never been to before because they are not on Axxess, don’t have a happy hour that I’ve been able to make it to, or have not offered coupons.  We found some incredible deals last year on $35 and $45 pre-fix three-course menus at some of the top restaurants in Santa Barbara where the price of a single entree or entree and dessert can cost as much as a three-course meal during restaurant week!

Where We Ate Last Year

We ate some incredible food last year at Smithy’s (out of business and replaced by La Cocina), SAMA SAMA, and a truly unforgettable pork chop at Lucky’s Montecito, last year!  The pork chop was so incredible, that we are going again this year and am delighted to see it on the menu for their 3rd Annual SBRW menu!

Rules for Restaurant Week

A few tips to having a fabulous SBRW:

  • Make a reservation and tell them you are coming for the SBRW menu;
  • Review the SBRW menu before you make a reservation and make sure everyone in your party can eat off the  menu;
  • No substitutions or modifications to the menu;
  • Ask to see the SBRW menu if you are not given the SBRW menu when seated; and
  • Tip well!

Where to Eat

Choosing where to eat for restaurant week can be overwhelming 31 great places to eat at and only 15 days to enjoy SBRW, the only way to hit every spot is to eat 2 or 3 meals a night!  Which is not realistic, so I automatically eliminate any restaurants from my options that:

  • Offer coupons;
  • Have an Axxess deal;
  • I have previously been to (obviously breaking this rule by going to Lucky’s two years in a row); and
  • If a price comparison of the items on the SBRW menu cost as much or less than if I were to order them from the regular, non-SBRW menu.
