Target Galleria

After 19 years of waiting, Target has finally made it to Santa Barbara! It may not be as big as the Targets in Ventura, but it’s SOMETHING and the retail giant finally has its foot in the door! I went opening weekend, so this post is a little late, but I wanted to see if and how my shopping patterns would change after that first trip to Target Galleria 4 weeks ago: they haven’t. When I lived in Louisiana, Target was my go to grocery store because you could not beat the prices on groceries on food and wine, which is saying something because I lived across the street from the nicest Albertson’s that I have ever shopped at and I still fought the traffic and drove 5 miles down Ambassador Caffery Parkway just to shop at Target. Eleven years later, I am back home in Santa Barbara and as excited as I am about Target coming to the Galleria, they cannot beat the grocery, wine, and beer prices at Bargain Market Grocery Outlet that opened on De La Vina St the other year!

The Deals…

Buy $15 in cheese, get a $5 gift card.

Despite the higher grocery prices than bargain market, there were still plenty of deals to be had! For example, I got a $5 gift card for buying $15 in shredded cheese, which meant I got $15 in cheese for $10 or $5 off my next Target purchase depending on how you look at it.

There were also signs around the store suggesting that I download the Target app to scan item I was putting in my cart for Target coupons. This worked out great because I saved $10 on dog stuff and allergy medications with the Target app that I scanned at check out. Then got double the coupons on several items with my Ibotta app (referral code for $5 sign up bonus: yoylllu) for even more cashback after I checked out!

Swim wear…

I love Target swim wear! Cute and affordable! I did not see anything more than $29.99! I bought 2 suites for less than $60 with underwire and plenty of support! The bikini top and bottom were $15.99 a piece and have made for a great swim workout and surfing suit!

I will definitely be back for the clothes and other essentials, but armed with my Target and Ibotta cashback apps! I’m excited we finally have a Target. There has been a lot of hype about parking, but I put that in the same category as rush hour traffic: easily avoidable if you don’t go at a peak time. I went at 10 a.m. on opening weekend and found a spot six cars into the parking lot. Plus, by this time next year, the full sized Target will be open in Goleta at the old KMart location and parking will be ample over there!
