Here Comes Halloween!
Friends don’t let friends carve alone!
Pumpkin Crushing Prices
As an October baby, I love all things Fall and Halloween, except how much it costs to get my Halloween on! This is especially true for pumpkin prices. I love pumpkin patches, but part of the price factored into the pumpkin is the experience of the patch and those Instagram-able photos. When I was a kid, I was allowed to pick out a $6 or $7 basketball sized pumpkin to take home and carve up. Today, that same pumpkin at the patch can cost between $10-$20!
I started picking my pumpkins at the grocery store initially out of convenience a few years ago because I was already there and did not have time to make it to the pumpkin patch on the other side of town. It was not until I got to a carving party the other year and was comparing pumpkin pricing with my friends that I realized I got the same sized pumpkin they did, but for LESS!
Deal Brag!

The past few years, I have gone pumpkin picking at Trader Joe’s, but this year, I saw an even better deal at Grocery Outlet, Bargain Market: basketball sized pumpkin for $3.99! That’s at least a $6-14 dollar savings from the pumpkin patch and a $3-4 savings from other area grocery stores!
Carving it Up!
It never really feels like Halloween until I carve my pumpkin! No one should ever carve alone, so I love that my friends have an annual Halloween party where we can get into the Halloween spirit and get our carve on!

I carve a hole in the bottom of my pumpkin, instead of the top because it allows me to make a larger hole to really get in there to get the pulp and seeds out without sacrificing any carving space!

I bought my pumpkin carving tool kit at Grocery Outlet Bargain Market last year on CLEARANCE the weekend after Halloween for $1.99! (My favorite time of year to buy holiday items for next year, is the DAY AFTER the holiday this year!)

This is the first year that chose a witch for my carving design. As a kid we would draw a design to carve in sharpie on our pumpkins, but taping the paper stencils and tracing them is much cleaner and easier!

I don’t have the patience to trace the stencil with the pokey tool, so I usually dive right in and start carving off the stencil!

Success! It actually looks like a witch! The cat was too hard, so I skipped it!
Light it up!
